Henna (Lawsonia inermis) is a plant known especially for its use in natural hair care and hair color treatments. Henna grows in hot climates, becoming first known in India, its fame expanding all over the world. Usually, any kind of natural paint is called marketed as henna, although they are made from other plants.

Henna colors hair in different shades of red, from red brick to reddish brown, depending on the natural color of the hair. The only part of the henna plant that is used in hair dyeing is its leaves.

To get a wider range of shades, from dark blond to black blue, this powder is mixed with chemical products (60-65% henna, 35-40% chemical products - depending on the hue). These blends are called henna-based mixed hair dyes. The chemical products used are oxidants such as para-phenylene diamine, citric acid, sodium perborate, para-aminophenol. Sodium perborate is an oxidant that is also used in tooth whitening (so standards allow it to be used in the mouth!), Citric acid is also used in the food industry.

These oxidants are found to be much lower than  100% chemical paints. Thus the content of para-phenilen-diamine after dilution is not more than 2.5% for the nuances: black and naturally black and 0.4% brown, brown, burgundy, blond, dark brown, light black, mahogany, black blue. Citric acid is also used in blends of 100% natural henna hair powder to tone the hair, considered a natural solution for oxidation (fixation of the color tone) of the hair.

This method (the use of weak oxidants in the composition) is a middle alternative between 100% natural dyeing that fails to color but only tones the shade on hair and 100% chemical dye that aggresses hair but makes special colors.

The Herb Henna and Eagle`s Henna paint palette are "good", natural colors, dark blond, perfect red (the manufacturer named it "supreme red") to blue black. Our henna paints we recommend it to those who want to protect their hair as much as possible but without compromise as well as people who are already beginning to have capillary problems (hair loss, hair decay known as "broom hair") It is the ideal solution for hair dyeing with minimal damaging consequences. We must mention that we can not recommend our products to people who want extreme colors such as light blond, very light, ultra light or bright red. These colors can't be obtained without chemical dyes.

Mixed natural hair dyes - an alternative to chemical hair dyes

With a minimal compromise (accepting oxidants below 2.5%), you get the benefits of both: get the desired color you would with chemical dyes, as well as hair protection and brilliance, but with natural dye. Let's not forget the low cost of dyeing.

The predominant nature of our "Herbul Henna" and "Eagle's Henna" dyes is proven by their green color, the color of the henna powder.

Our company is the only importer in Romania of this product. For larger orders or any other questions we may be contacted by email: staterra.ro@gmail.com or by phone: +40744585655.

The henna dye is subject to external factors. Which means that, as with chemical dyes, the henna will retain its bright shade only for a period of time. Due to repeated washing, chlorine in water or drying with hot air, the hue of hair will lose brightness in time from the intensity. The good part is that repeated applications of henna dye lead to a much richer color. Each new coat overlays the former, changing the depth of the tint and giving a much richer color every time (total hair dyeing is recommended once every 2-3 months and roots whenever needed). If you use henna only once, the hue will open in time, but the base tone will remain on the hair until at least you cut or paint it chemically.

How to apply

Hair dyeing with "Herbul Henna" or "Eagle`s Henna" is no different from the one with a chemical paint, neither as time nor as a procedure. Regarding the smell, because we read on other blogs that it smells bad,  knowing that these paints smell like herbs, there is nothing that could make you sick and in no case smells worse than a chemical dye .

This paint is sold as a powder. To use it on the hair, the powder has to be turned into paste. So mix the henna powder with water until you get a paste of yogurt consistency. Once the paste is obtained, use it immediately because its effectiveness is reduced if it oxidates.

The paste obtained is applied to unwashed hair.

The hair is divided into sections for easier handling and full coverage, then the paste is applied to all strands. Allow your hair to absorb the pigment in depth until it is fully dried. For quick results, a hair dryer can be used.

Remember that you have to use protective gloves and try not to get henna on your workspace as it stains. Skin stains should be cleaned as quickly as possible with vinegar or lemon.

After the paste applied to the hair has dried completely, wash the hair with shampoo and rinse until the water becomes clear. Apply conditioner or hair treatment and rinse after the proper time has passed. Dry your hair and arrange it as you wish.

Use the content for a single application. Unused Henna Pasta should be thrown away.

Application of natural - mixed paints  on white or painted hair

Henna can apply very well on white hair, but the color obtained after first painting will not be as intense as a chemical dye. The only thing to keep in mind is that the resulting color is influenced by the color of the hair. So, if you have gray shades mixed with colored strands, the shade resulting from henna dyeing may not be uniform. However, if you repeat natural-mixed painting, the hair gets a rich and uniform color.

Instead, if your hair has been chemically dyed before, it's best to check out a stylist or test henna just on a hairline and decide depending on the outcome. Chemically dyed hair should be left for a period of time until henna dyeing to remove as much as possible chemical compounds from the hair. Chemicals in commercial paints can trigger different reactions in contact with henna, and the resulting color is not what you wanted. A pre-tested is mandatory if your hair is chemically painted. The same problems are encountered in the case of chemically dyed hair, by switching from a chemical color to another chemical color.

Sensitivity test:

Powdered para-phenylenediamine can in some cases cause serious skin inflammation. Therefore, a preliminary test should always be done to determine whether or not there is a particular sensitivity. To perform the test, clean a small area of the skin behind the ear or on the inner surface of the forearm using either water and soap or alcohol. Apply a small amount of paint to the areas mentioned above and allow to dry. After 24 hours, wash the area lightly with soap and water. If there is no irritation or inflammation, it can be assumed that there is no hypersensitivity to dyeing. The test should, however, be carried out before each application.

Careful:

This preparation should never be used for eyelash or eyebrow dyeing because it may result in severe eye inflammation or even blindness. The content of PPD after dilution is not more than 2.5% for the nuances: Black, naturally black and 0.4% for brown, brown, burgundy, blond, dark brown, light black, mahogany, blue black.

Toxic:

Only for external use. Keep out of reach of children.
